Material prosperity, which the Bible treats with nuance — neither wholly condemned nor uncritically celebrated. Abraham, Job, and Solomon were wealthy, and Proverbs links diligence with prosperity (10:4). Yet Jesus warned, 'It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God' (Mark 10:25). First Timothy 6:10 identifies 'the love of money' as 'a root of all kinds of evil.' Jesus told the parable of the rich fool (Luke 12:13-21) and taught, 'You cannot serve both God and money' (Matthew 6:24). Wealth is a stewardship responsibility, not an ultimate good.
