Enan

Exodus & Wilderness Tribe of Naphtali · H5881
Old Testament

Enan was the father of Ahira, the leader of the tribe of Naphtali during the wilderness journey.

Enan was the father of Ahira, the appointed leader of the tribe of Naphtali during the wilderness period, first recorded in Numbers 1:15 at the first census of Israel. He is mentioned exclusively in connection with his son's official role, appearing in the census lists, the tribal offerings at the altar's dedication (Numbers 7:83), and the ordering of Israel's camp and march. His name, meaning 'having eyes' or 'fountain,' connects him genealogically to one of Israel's tribal leadership families.
