Psalms 125:1
They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.

Study Note
The comparison of those who trust in the Lord to 'mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever' uses the geological permanence of Jerusalem's hill as a metaphor for the security of the trusting soul. The mountains surrounding Jerusalem (verse 2) mirror God surrounding his people — a spatial metaphor for encompassing divine protection that draws on the concrete topography of the city. The Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120-134) were sung by pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem for the great feasts; Psalm 125's imagery of Zion's stability would have carried immediate visual resonance as pilgrims came within sight of the city. Isaiah 33:16's 'his defence shall be the munitions of rocks' and John 10:28-29's 'neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand' both develop the same theology of the believer's security in divine custody.
