'All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.' Psalm 22's movement from anguish ('My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me') to universal worship is one of Scripture's most dramatic arcs. The universal scope of the closing verses — 'all the ends of the world,' 'all the kindreds of the nations' — takes the individual suffering of the psalmist and transforms it into a catalyst for global conversion. The New Testament reads Jesus's cry from the cross (Matthew 27:46) as fulfillment of the Psalm's opening, making the global worship of verse 27 the eschatological result of the crucifixion.
