Archites
The Archites were a people group mentioned in relation to the boundaries of Ephraim's territory and as the origin of Hushai, King David's friend and advisor.
The Archites were a clan or people group mentioned in connection with the boundary of Ephraim's territory, where the border ran 'to the Archite territory of Ataroth' (Joshua 16:2). The most notable connection of the Archites is with Hushai, David's loyal friend and spy during Absalom's rebellion, who is repeatedly called 'Hushai the Archite' (2 Samuel 15:32; 16:16; 17:5–14; 1 Kings 4:16). The geographic association with Ephraim suggests the Archites were a clan living near the border between Ephraim and Benjamin, and their connection to Hushai gave the group an honorable place in Israel's memory.
