Ephron the Hittite sold the cave of Machpelah to Abraham as a burial site for Sarah.

Ephron son of Zohar was a Hittite landowner from whom Abraham purchased the cave of Machpelah near Mamre as a burial ground for his wife Sarah (Genesis 23:8–17). The transaction, conducted publicly at the city gate with careful legal formality, established the cave and its surrounding field as Abraham's first permanent possession in the land of Canaan. Ephron initially offered the land as a gift but then named a substantial price—four hundred shekels of silver—which Abraham paid without negotiation, securing title to what would become the family burial site for the patriarchs and matriarchs.
