Ira
A powerful emotion that can be either righteous or sinful depending on its cause and expression. God's anger burns against injustice and idolatry (Exodus 32:10, Psalm 7:11). Jesus displayed righteous anger when he cleansed the temple (John 2:13-17). Yet Scripture warns against unchecked anger: 'Human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires' (James 1:20). Ephesians 4:26-27 counsels, 'In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.' Proverbs 15:1 teaches, 'A gentle answer turns away wrath.' Anger must be evaluated by its object, motive, and manner of expression.
