Luz
God's first creative word was 'Let there be light' (Genesis 1:3), and light pervades Scripture as a symbol of divine presence, truth, and goodness. Psalm 27:1 declares, 'The Lord is my light and my salvation.' Psalm 119:105 affirms, 'Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.' Jesus proclaimed, 'I am the light of the world' (John 8:12) and told his followers, 'You are the light of the world' (Matthew 5:14). John 1:5 states, 'The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.' First John 1:5 declares that 'God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.' The new creation needs no sun because God himself is its light (Revelation 21:23).
