Oil
Olive oil serving as a symbol of the Holy Spirit, consecration, healing, and joy throughout Scripture. Priests, kings, and prophets were anointed with oil (Exodus 29:7, 1 Samuel 16:13). Psalm 23:5 celebrates, 'You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.' The parable of the ten virgins uses oil as a symbol of spiritual preparedness (Matthew 25:1-13). James 5:14 instructs elders to anoint the sick with oil. Zechariah 4:1-6 connects olive oil with the Spirit: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty.' Isaiah 61:3 promises 'the oil of joy instead of mourning.' Oil represents the Spirit's empowering, consecrating presence.
