Sacrifício
The offering of something precious to God, central to biblical worship from Abel's firstborn offering (Genesis 4:4) through Christ's death on the cross. The Levitical system prescribed animal sacrifices for atonement, thanksgiving, and fellowship (Leviticus 1-7). The prophets insisted that sacrifices without genuine heart devotion were meaningless (1 Samuel 15:22, Hosea 6:6, Micah 6:6-8). Hebrews 10:1-14 argues that animal sacrifices could never fully remove sin; they pointed forward to Christ's once-for-all sacrifice. Believers now offer 'living sacrifices' (Romans 12:1) and 'sacrifices of praise' (Hebrews 13:15-16).
