Strangers and Foreigners
Aliens and sojourners living among God's people, granted special protections in Mosaic law. Leviticus 19:33-34 commands, 'When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt.' Ruth the Moabite is the supreme example — a foreigner who found grace in Israel and became an ancestor of David and Jesus (Ruth 1-4, Matthew 1:5). Hebrews 13:2 urges, 'Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.'
