Study Note
The great Hallelujah chorus — 'Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God' — opens Revelation 19 as heaven's response to the judgment of Babylon and forms the prelude to the Marriage of the Lamb. The Hebrew word 'Hallelujah' (praise Yah) appears only in Revelation in the New Testament, deliberately anchoring the Christian community's ultimate doxology in the Hebrew liturgical tradition. The fourfold ascription — salvation, glory, honour, power — echoes the throne-hymns of Revelation 4-5, creating a literary bracket around the judgments of chapters 6-18 with praise framing both ends.
