Adoram, also known as Adoniram or Hadoram, was an official in charge of forced labor during the reigns of David, Solomon, and Rehoboam.
Adoram, also known as Adoniram and Hadoram, served as the official in charge of forced labor (the corvée) under David, Solomon, and into the reign of Rehoboam (2 Samuel 20:24; 1 Kings 4:6; 12:18). His career spanned the entire united monarchy, indicating an exceptionally long tenure in a demanding administrative role. When Rehoboam sent him to deal with the northern tribes' revolt, he was stoned to death by the Israelites—his very presence symbolizing the oppressive policies that had provoked the schism. His violent end marked the irreversible division of the kingdom and the end of the united monarchy.
