Agabus, a prophet, foretold a famine and Paul's arrest in Jerusalem.
Agabus was a Christian prophet who appears twice in Acts, both times accurately predicting future events. In Acts 11:27–28, he and other prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch and Agabus predicted a great famine throughout the Roman world, described as happening 'in the days of Claudius'—an event partially confirmed by Roman historians. In Acts 21:10–11, he came to Caesarea while Paul was there and, in a symbolic prophetic act echoing OT prophets, bound his own hands and feet with Paul's belt and declared that the man who owned the belt would be bound by the Jews in Jerusalem and handed over to the Gentiles. Though this alarmed Paul's companions, Paul pressed on to Jerusalem, accepting the prophesied suffering as God's will.
