Old Testament

Giddel was an ancestor of a group of temple servants (Nethinim) who returned to Jerusalem from the Babylonian exile.

Giddel was the head of a family of temple servants (Nethinim) who returned from Babylonian exile under Zerubbabel, listed in Ezra 2:47 and Nehemiah 7:49. A separate Giddel also appears in Ezra 2:56 and Nehemiah 7:58 as the ancestor of another group who returned among Solomon's servants. Whether these represent one or two individuals is uncertain, but both families were part of the dedicated servant class that supported Levitical temple work.
