Mattenai, a descendant of Hashum, divorced his foreign wife during Ezra's reforms.
Mattenai appears among the descendants of Hashum who had taken foreign wives and pledged to put them away in Ezra's reform (Ezra 10:33). A second Mattenai son of Bani also appears in the same list (Ezra 10:37). In Nehemiah 12:19, a priest named Mattenai served during the high priesthood of Joiakim after the return from exile. Beyond these administrative notices, no further information about these individuals is preserved.
