Old Testament

The Meunim were a group of temple servants who returned to Jerusalem from the Babylonian exile.

The Meunim were a family of temple servants (Hebrew: nethinim) whose descendants returned to Jerusalem from the Babylonian exile as part of the initial restoration community under Zerubbabel (Ezra 2:50; Nehemiah 7:52). Temple servants performed menial labor in support of the priestly service and were considered a distinct class within the post-exilic community. The name may be connected to the Meunites, a people group associated with Maon south of the Dead Sea who were conquered in the time of Uzziah (2 Chronicles 26:7).
