Old Testament

Rab-saris was one of the Babylonian officials sent by King Sennacherib to Jerusalem during his campaign against Judah.

Rab-saris, meaning 'chief eunuch' or 'chief officer,' appears in both the Assyrian and Babylonian narratives of Scripture. In 2 Kings 18:17, an Assyrian Rab-saris was sent by Sennacherib to demand Jerusalem's surrender, while in Jeremiah 39:3, 13, a Babylonian official of the same title participated in the conquest of Jerusalem and helped secure Jeremiah's release.
