Shalmai (or Shamlai) was an ancestor of the Nethinim, and his descendants were among those who returned to Jerusalem from the Babylonian exile.
Shalmai (also spelled Salmai) was the ancestor of a family of temple servants who returned from Babylonian exile, listed in Ezra 2:46 and Nehemiah 7:48 among the Nethinim who served in the restored temple community under Zerubbabel.
