Левиты

The tribe of Levi, set apart by God for religious service in Israel. After the golden calf incident, the Levites rallied to Moses' side (Exodus 32:26), and God designated them as his own in place of Israel's firstborn (Numbers 3:12). They received no territorial inheritance but were given 48 cities (Numbers 35:1-8) and supported by tithes (Numbers 18:21-24). Levites served as gatekeepers, musicians, teachers of the law, and assistants to the priests. The Levitical system pointed forward to Christ, who fulfilled every aspect of the sacrificial and priestly ministry in a new and living way.
