The active pursuit of peace and harmony, especially between conflicting parties. Jesus pronounced, 'Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God' (Matthew 5:9). Romans 12:18 urges, 'If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.' James 3:18 teaches, 'Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.' Christ is the ultimate peacemaker, who 'himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility' (Ephesians 2:14). Hebrews 12:14 commands, 'Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy.' Peacemaking requires courage, humility, and sacrificial love.
