Study Note
The promise that 'thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever' presents the eschatological community as completely transformed — moral righteousness (tsaddiq) pervading the entire people, not merely a remnant. This universalisation of righteousness within Israel fulfils the covenant goal of Deuteronomy 6:25 and looks ahead to Jeremiah 31:33-34's new covenant promise that the law will be written on every heart. The 'branch of my planting' metaphor recalls Isaiah 61:3 ('oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord') and John 15:1-5 (the vine and its branches), suggesting that righteousness is a fruit of divine cultivation rather than human achievement. Revelation 21:27 ('there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth') preserves the same vision of a wholly pure eschatological community.
