Gospel Proclamation
The public announcement of the good news about Jesus Christ's death, resurrection, and lordship. Paul defined the gospel: 'That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures' (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Peter's Pentecost sermon (Acts 2:14-41) is a model of gospel proclamation — recounting Jesus' life, death, and resurrection, interpreting them from Scripture, and calling for response. Romans 1:16 declares the gospel 'the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.' First Corinthians 1:21 affirms God's pleasure in saving people 'through the foolishness of what was preached.'
