Revival
A fresh outpouring of God's Spirit that restores spiritual vitality to his people. Psalm 85:6 pleads, 'Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?' Habakkuk 3:2 prays, 'Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known.' Scripture records several revivals: under Samuel (1 Samuel 7), Josiah (2 Kings 23), Ezra and Nehemiah (Nehemiah 8-9), and at Pentecost (Acts 2). Each involved a return to God's Word, confession of sin, and renewed commitment to covenant faithfulness. Revival ultimately depends on God's sovereign initiative.
