Fulfillment of the Law
Jesus' completion and perfection of the Old Testament law's purpose and intent. Matthew 5:17 records Jesus declaring, 'Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.' Christ fulfilled the law's moral demands through his sinless life (Hebrews 4:15), its sacrificial requirements through his death (Hebrews 10:1-14), its prophetic predictions through his person and work (Luke 24:44), and its ultimate purpose of pointing to himself (Galatians 3:24). Romans 10:4 states, 'Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.'
