Gardens
Cultivated spaces carrying deep theological significance from Eden to Gethsemane to the new creation. Eden was the first garden — God's paradise where humanity dwelt in his presence (Genesis 2:8-15). Song of Songs uses garden imagery for love and intimacy (4:12-16). Isaiah 51:3 promises God will make Zion's wastelands 'like Eden, her deserts like the garden of the Lord.' Jesus agonized in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-46) and was buried in a garden tomb (John 19:41). Mary Magdalene mistook the risen Jesus for a gardener (John 20:15). Revelation's new creation restores the garden — a river, the tree of life, and God's presence (22:1-5).
