Ahisamach

Old Testament

Ahisamach, from the tribe of Dan, was the father of Oholiab, a skilled artisan who helped construct the tabernacle.

Ahisamach was a Danite craftsman and the father of Oholiab, who was appointed by God as the chief artisan from the tribe of Dan to assist Bezalel in constructing the tabernacle and its furnishings (Exodus 31:6; 35:34; 36:1–2; 38:23). While Bezalel of Judah was the principal craftsman endowed with divine skill, Oholiab worked alongside him as a designer, embroiderer, and weaver. The pairing of craftsmen from Judah and Dan—the first and last tribes in the tribal listing—may carry symbolic significance about the unity of all Israel in the construction of the sacred dwelling.
