Old Testament

Debir was the Amorite king of Eglon who joined a coalition against Joshua but was defeated.

Debir was the Amorite king of Eglon who joined the coalition of five Canaanite kings convened by Adoni-zedek of Jerusalem to punish Gibeon for making peace with Joshua (Joshua 10:3). God gave Joshua a decisive victory over the coalition, and the five kings fled and hid in a cave at Makkedah, where Joshua later executed them publicly as a demonstration of Israel's victory in the name of the LORD. Debir's city of Eglon was subsequently captured and destroyed by Israel.
