Meunites

Old Testament

The Meunites were a people group who lived near Israel and were enemies of God's people.

The Meunites were a people group from the region of Maon who appear several times as enemies of Israel: they were defeated by Uzziah king of Judah (2 Chronicles 26:7), were among the coalition that came against Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 20:1, variant reading), and were driven from the valley of Gedor by Simeonite clans in the time of Hezekiah (1 Chronicles 4:41). Their precise ethnic and geographic identity remains uncertain, though most scholars locate them in the Edomite or northwestern Arabian region east and south of the Dead Sea.
