Timaeus was the father of Bartimaeus, a blind beggar who was healed by Jesus near Jericho.
Timaeus was the father of Bartimaeus, the blind beggar who called out to Jesus as 'Son of David' on the road near Jericho and received his sight after Jesus responded to his persistent appeal (Mark 10:46–52). The name Bartimaeus itself means 'son of Timaeus,' and Mark's Gospel preserves both the Aramaic patronymic and the Greek translation, suggesting Timaeus was a known figure in the community where the story circulated. Nothing more is recorded about Timaeus himself.
