Coveting

20 ayet

Desiring what belongs to another person, addressed by the tenth commandment: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house... wife... or anything that belongs to your neighbor' (Exodus 20:17). Coveting is an inner sin that breeds external transgressions — Achan coveted spoils and stole them (Joshua 7:21), David coveted Bathsheba and committed adultery and murder (2 Samuel 11). Paul confessed that the command against coveting revealed his own sinfulness (Romans 7:7-8). Hebrews 13:5 offers the remedy: 'Be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."'
