Bilgah was the head of the fifteenth division of priests during David's reign.
Bilgah was the head of the fifteenth priestly division established by King David to organize the rotation of priestly service in the sanctuary (1 Chronicles 24:14). David divided the priests into twenty-four courses, each serving one week in turn, a system that continued in the Second Temple period. A priest named Bilgah also appears in Nehemiah 12:5, 18 among those who returned from exile with Zerubbabel, suggesting this priestly family continued into the post-exilic period.
