Happizzez was the head of the 18th division of priests during the time of David's organization of the priesthood.

Happizzez was the head of the eighteenth priestly division established by David for rotation in the sanctuary service, recorded in 1 Chronicles 24:15. David organized the priests into twenty-four courses through the casting of lots, ensuring that all priestly families had opportunity to serve in the temple. Happizzez's course formed part of the elaborate liturgical calendar that structured priestly life in Jerusalem and continued into the Second Temple period.
