Jabin, a Canaanite king of Hazor, oppressed Israel for twenty years until he was defeated by Deborah and Barak.

Jabin was a Canaanite king of Hazor who oppressed the Israelites for twenty years after the period of Ehud (Judges 4:2–3). His army commander, Sisera, commanded nine hundred iron chariots. The prophetess Deborah and the military commander Barak rallied Israel against him; Sisera was defeated in battle and later killed by Jael, and Jabin's power was progressively broken until he was destroyed (Judges 4:24). The name Jabin also appears for an earlier king of Hazor defeated by Joshua (Joshua 11:1), possibly a dynastic title. Psalm 83:9 invokes this victory as a model for prayer against Israel's enemies.
