Jehezkel was the head of the twentieth priestly division organized by King David for the rotation of temple service (1 Chronicles 24:16). The lot-based assignment system ensured that all priestly families received equal opportunity for service, regardless of family size or prestige. The twenty priestly division under Jehezkel represented one of the later rotations in the annual cycle, each lasting one week and carrying responsibility for all sacrificial and liturgical duties at the sanctuary.
