Shobai was the ancestor of a family of gatekeepers who returned to Jerusalem from the Babylonian exile.
Shobai was the ancestor of a family of temple gatekeepers who returned from Babylonian exile with Zerubbabel, listed in the post-exilic registers of Ezra 2:42 and Nehemiah 7:45. His descendants numbered one hundred and thirty-nine and served in the restored temple community in post-exilic Jerusalem.
