Sihon was the Amorite king of Heshbon who refused to let the Israelites pass through his land and was subsequently defeated by them.
Sihon was the Amorite king of Heshbon who refused to grant Israel passage through his territory and was decisively defeated by Moses east of the Jordan River (Numbers 21:21–32; Deuteronomy 2:26–37). His defeat and the conquest of his territory became paradigmatic examples of divine military deliverance, cited repeatedly in Israel's worship (Psalms 135:11; 136:19) and in historical recollections of God's power on Israel's behalf.
