Old Testament

Ziba, a servant of Saul's household, became a servant of David and played a role in the conflict between David and Mephibosheth.

Ziba was a servant of the house of Saul who was summoned by David when the king sought to show kindness to any surviving member of Jonathan's family (2 Samuel 9:2–13). He informed David of Mephibosheth and was subsequently assigned to manage Saul's estate on Mephibosheth's behalf. During Absalom's rebellion Ziba brought provisions to David and falsely claimed Mephibosheth had sided with the rebels, receiving half of the estate as a reward (2 Samuel 16:1–4; 19:24–30) — making him a morally ambiguous figure in the Davidic narrative.
