说方言

The gift of speaking in languages not previously learned, first manifested at Pentecost when the apostles proclaimed God's wonders in the native languages of visitors from across the Roman world (Acts 2:1-12). Paul discusses tongues extensively in 1 Corinthians 12-14, affirming it as a legitimate gift while insisting it must be exercised orderly and with interpretation in public worship (14:27-28). He distinguishes between tongues directed to God in prayer (14:2) and tongues as a sign for unbelievers (14:22). Paul himself spoke in tongues (14:18) but prioritized prophecy for its ability to edify the whole church (14:5).
