Reformation
The renewal of religious practice and return to scriptural faithfulness, exemplified in several Old Testament reforms. King Hezekiah 'held fast to the Lord and did not stop following him; he kept the commands the Lord had given Moses' (2 Kings 18:6). He purified the temple, restored Passover, and destroyed the bronze serpent that had become an idol (2 Kings 18:4). Josiah's reforms were sparked by the rediscovery of the Book of the Law (2 Kings 22-23). Ezra and Nehemiah led post-exilic reforms, calling people back to covenant faithfulness. Each reformation began with the rediscovery and proclamation of God's Word, demonstrating that Scripture is the catalyst for genuine spiritual renewal.
