Small beginnings with transformative potential, central to Jesus' teaching. The parable of the sower (Matthew 13:1-23) describes the word of God as seed falling on various soils. The mustard seed illustrates how the kingdom starts small but grows immensely (Matthew 13:31-32). Jesus taught, 'Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds' (John 12:24). Paul used seed imagery for resurrection: 'What you sow does not come to life unless it dies... It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body' (1 Corinthians 15:36, 44). Genesis 3:15's 'seed of the woman' is the first messianic prophecy.
