エデンの園

The paradise God created as the first home for humanity (Genesis 2:8-25). Eden contained 'trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food' (2:9), including the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. A river flowed through it, dividing into four branches (2:10-14). God placed Adam there 'to work it and take care of it' (2:15). Eden represents the original state of harmony between God, humanity, and creation. The fall shattered this harmony (Genesis 3), and cherubim guarded the way back (3:24). Yet Scripture's trajectory points toward a restored Eden — the new creation where the tree of life reappears (Revelation 22:1-5) and God dwells with his people again.
