'Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger' — this promise, spoken during the very siege of Jerusalem (verse 1–2), represents Jeremiah's purchase of the field at Anathoth made coherent: God commands a symbolic act of land-redemption as a sign that houses and fields shall yet be bought and sold in Judah. The gathering from 'all countries' anticipates the universal Diaspora-return language of Isaiah 43–44 and Ezekiel 36–37, and has been applied both to the Babylonian return under Ezra-Nehemiah and to eschatological ingathering in Jewish and Christian traditions. The gift of 'one heart and one way' (verse 39) shows that geographic restoration is inseparable from spiritual transformation.
