The thousand-year reign of Christ described in Revelation 20:1-6. Premillennialists believe Christ will physically reign on earth for a literal thousand years after his return. Amillennialists interpret the millennium symbolically as the present church age, during which Christ reigns spiritually. Postmillennialists expect the gospel to progressively triumph, ushering in a golden age before Christ's return. All agree that Christ's kingdom will ultimately triumph over evil. Isaiah 11:6-9 envisions a future era of peace where 'the wolf will live with the lamb.' The millennium debate reflects different approaches to apocalyptic literature and the relationship between Israel and the church.
