The daily, practical outworking of becoming holy — cooperating with the Spirit's transformative work. Romans 6:19 instructs, 'Offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness.' Second Corinthians 7:1 urges, 'Let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.' Philippians 2:12-13 holds together human effort and divine empowerment: 'Work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you.' Practical sanctification involves putting off the old self and putting on the new (Ephesians 4:22-24), walking by the Spirit (Galatians 5:16), and pursuing holiness (Hebrews 12:14).
