Both a weapon of war and a powerful symbol of God's Word and judgment. Ephesians 6:17 identifies 'the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God' as essential spiritual armor. Hebrews 4:12 declares, 'The word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit.' Revelation 1:16 portrays Christ with a sharp double-edged sword from his mouth, and Revelation 19:15 shows him striking the nations with it. Isaiah 49:2 prophesied God making the servant's mouth 'like a sharpened sword.' The sword symbolizes God's Word cutting through deception, judging hearts, and establishing truth.
