Confession
The practice of acknowledging sin before God and, where appropriate, before fellow believers. Psalm 32:5 records David's experience: 'I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord." And you forgave the guilt of my sin.' First John 1:9 promises, 'If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.' James 5:16 instructs, 'Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.' Confession is not merely reciting wrongs but genuinely agreeing with God about the nature of sin.
