Jeremiah 24:7
And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.

Study Note
The promise 'I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God' accompanies the vision of two baskets of figs — the good figs representing the Babylonian exiles whom God will restore, the bad representing those who remained in Jerusalem under Zedekiah. The promise of a new heart to 'know' (yada') God reflects the covenant relationship's deepest dimension: intimate relational knowledge rather than merely intellectual information about God. This anticipates the new covenant oracle of Jeremiah 31:33-34, where the law written on hearts and knowledge of God permeating the community becomes the signature of eschatological restoration. Paul's language of the heart in 2 Corinthians 3:3 and Romans 2:15 draws on this tradition.
