Jeremiah 33:16
In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The Lord our righteousness.

Study Note
The 'Branch' from David (33:15) will secure Judah's salvation and Jerusalem's safety, and in those days Jerusalem will be called 'the Lord our righteousness' — the same title applied to the Branch in 23:6. The transfer of the divine name to the city is theologically remarkable: what was predicated of the king becomes predicated of the community he saves. The double promise (political safety and divine name) binds eschatological hope to both territory and identity — the city's name proclaims what God has done for it. Christian interpretation sees the Branch's righteousness imputed to the church (2 Corinthians 5:21), making the verse a pre-figuration of justification theology.
